Alan Wake 2

We were honoured to produce the teaser trailer for the survival horror game Alan Wake 2, developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games Publishing. In addition to producing the teaser trailer, Goodbye Kansas Studios contributed to animation and lighting assets and did in-engine compositing work for the gameplay.

The game is a sequel to Alan Wake and was released in 2023.
The trailer was produced with AKQA and Remedy and won Gold at the Clio Awards 2022.

Alan Wake, a bestselling writer from New York City, disappeared in 2010 while on vacation in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Alice Wake.

During their trip, they encountered a supernatural force of darkness that brought one of Alan’s horror stories to life. He fought against this mysterious darkness and succeeded in banishing it back to a nightmarish dark place under a caldera lake outside the small town of Bright Falls. In doing so, he also freed his wife from the darkness. However, in the process, Alan became trapped under the lake, writing an ending to his horror story and leaving his fate unknown.

Alan Wake is alive despite having wished for death many times. He has been trapped in the Dark Place for 13 years, where his nightmares, fears, and stories come to life around him. During this time, he has fought to keep his sanity and create an account that could alter reality and free him from his prison. However, he has yet to succeed.
